Can raw wool be sent to an individual in the US directly from a sheep farm in Ireland? To spin/dye/weave.?

A sheep farmer has offered to send about 40# directly to me after his sheep are sheared in June or July. It would in “fresh off the sheep” condition. Will the US allow this? We want to stay legal. This is not for sale-just personal use for fiber art.

What are the steps for making yarn directly from the sheep?

I have a bunch of wool right off of the sheep. It is all dirty and I want to spin it. I know how to do the spinning part, but what are the steps before that? I need to do this manually and with the least amount of money! Thanks!
